Interested in building your entrepreneurial skills to launch your startup?

YSpace, York University’s innovation hub, is partnering with the Markham Small Business Centre (MSBC) to host an 11-week educational program called Founders Fundamentals.

Whether you are a professional services company, brick and mortar or technology startup, the program aims to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to succeed. Spanning across topics such as social media marketing, to how to write a business plan, to legal basics and more, this program provides a wide range of learning. In addition, the program connects you with local resources for potential next steps as you progress in your entrepreneurial ventures.

Individuals who attend at least 9 out of the 11 workshops will receive an Innovation York Certificate of Completion, illustratiting their dedication to learning about the essentials of launching a successful business.

About the Workshop

Start-ups face a unique insurance challenge. Do you prioritize your spending on revenue-generating activities? Or do you protect what you have built so far, by purchasing insurance? This conflict of priorities often results in companies going on without insurance for far too long, exposing years of hard work to legal liability and a wide variety of exposures to loss.

The Insurance for Start-Ups seminar aims to demystify the insurance purchase decision, highlight the critical types of coverage, and help you determine what (if any) insurances your business needs. Utilizing a case-based approach, attendees will enjoy practical takeaways that apply directly to their own business insurance concerns.

Sam, a York University Alum, takes pride in providing insurance solutions for his clients’ businesses, and more importantly in helping to inform & enable business owners to make the right insurance decisions.
