Interested in building your entrepreneurial skills to launch your startup?
YSpace, York University’s innovation hub, is partnering with the Markham Small Business Centre (MSBC) to host an 11-week educational program called Founders Fundamentals.
Whether you are a professional services company, brick and mortar or technology startup, the program aims to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to succeed. Spanning across topics such as finance 101, to how to write a business plan, to legal basics and more, this program provides a wide range of learning. In addition, the program connects you with local resources for potential next steps as you progress in your entrepreneurial ventures.
Individuals who attend at least 9 out of the 11 workshops will receive an Innovation York Certificate of Completion, illustratiting your dedication to learning about the essentials of launching a successful business.
About the Workshop
In 2022, it’s almost impossible for a business to survive without a digital presence. For new entrepreneurs, getting started is intimidating: from your lengthy to-do list and the fact that it’s too early to hire people to work on your brand’s needs.
In this workshop, we will go through a DIY checklist of tasks & mostly free and beginner-friendly tools to get your business set-up on the web. We’ll cover topics like:
- How to stay organized
- Build a website in 10 minutes or a whole marketplace with just a spreadsheet
- Learn about your audience with easy & ethical analytics
- How to write copy, create custom branding, illustrations, and graphics – that actually looks good!
- Bonus: What if you have an app idea?
About the Presenter
Sisa Lleses (she/her) is the Founder of Design Off The Boat, an all-women product design crew for all women founders. She helps women entrepreneurs and non-technical founders break the skill, time, and cost barriers that early stage startups experience, through No-Code Tools & Design Sprints. She is also the UX Lead at Needslist, an AI-powered platform for humanitarian aid, and No-Code Faculty at Our Wave Hub.
