Career Recharge: Resumé and Cover Letter Writing

Make a great impression with your resumé and cover letter and make sure they represent you well to employers.

In this session, we will:

• explain the structure and formatting of a resume and cover letter
• identify the dos and don’ts of effective job search documents
• provide tips to help you craft an effective and well-formatted resume and cover letter

Facilitators Mary Saith and Chris Magos from the Seneca Works team will offer key tips on how to create effective documents that will help you stand out from other applicants. This is the first session in our Career Foundations series.

About the Facilitators

Mary Saith has worked in the career development field for several years. As a Work-Integrated Learning Coordinator in the IT field, Ms. Saith has coached students from various backgrounds and focuses on creating a strategy to have applicants stand out in the recruitment process. Daily interaction with employers has educated Ms. Saith on what employers want and expect from applicants – and she is happy to share this information!

Chris Magos started in the field of Career Services and Experiential Learning in 2013 at Seneca after nearly 3 years of working in the banking industry. As a Work-Integrated Learning Coordinator for the Faculty of Business, in the School of Accounting and Financial Services, Mr. Magos has had the privilege of working with various students, graduates, and industry partners in multiple occupational areas. He is well aware of how the world of work has changed and the must-have 21st-century skillsets.

Career Recharge is pleased to offer a digital certificate of completion to individuals who attend all four virtual workshops in the Career Foundations series. Certificates will be distributed after the final workshop of the series.
